LD-9 - 16 Hertz DuraSonde Transmitter
The LD-9 is our smaller of the 16 Hz line of durasonde transmitters. LD-9 has a new more durable design and stronger signal. If you are going to locate in ductile iron or steel pipes this transmitter will do the job. This transmitter will also work great in cast iron where there is a lot of electrical interference.

Q: Can I use this transmitter to locate in cast iron?
A: Yes, but we would recommend our FD series of transmitters for cast iron locating. The application where we would recommend using this transmitter in cast iron is if you are experiencing a lot of electrical interference. This will have you cut through the noise.
Q: I am having trouble picking up the 16 Hertz frequency with my receiver. Is there a trick to locating with this frequency?
A: Yes there is. The thing to remember about the 16 Hertz frequency is that it is a really low frequency so the signal waves are long and drawn out. It is best to slow down your movements when locating with the frequency. Take your time and this frequency will perform great.
Q: Why am I not getting full range anymore?
A: As with most electronics the stronger your battery life the more performance you will get out of it. So we recommend using fresh batteries for every locate. This also applies to your receiver.
Q: I am using a receiver other than Prototek and I am not getting the range that you advertise on your website. What is the deal?
A: Our receivers are very sensitive, they tend to pick up the signals a little better than others. All our ranges posted on our website are determined with our receivers. We can't guarantee what you will get with other brands of receivers.
Q: How do most people push this transmitter down the line?
A: Most of our customers heavily tape them to the side of their push rods. But you can also attach them to your camera or sewer machine. Some customers go as far as getting some PVC pipe and two encaps. This would be like a makeshift spring carrier and is a great way to protect your transmitter.
